Newsletter 03/04/2014 Print PDF

Dear Parents,

As this is the final newsletter of the Spring Term I would like to wish all pupils and parents a very happy Easter Break.

Thanks to the PTFA

I would like to thank all members of the PTFA for their hard work and the fantastic fund raising activities during the Spring Term. The Easter Bingo was a very enjoyable evening and £638.90 was raised in total. The Designing an Egg Competition was also a success with a large number of children coming up with some wonderful designs.

Unfortunately it has come to my attention that a small minority of parents have posted offensive comments about the PTFA on facebook. This is very disappointing as the PTFA is a small group who work incredibly hard to raise much needed funds for all of the children at Woodlands. I would urge any parents who want to help, work hard and contribute to fund raising events join the PTFA and come and give your ideas and help spread the work load.

Parent Consultation Evenings – Reminder – Tuesday 25th March (4.00-6.00pm) or Wednesday 26th March (3.30-5.30pm)

So far this year the PTFA have contributed to the following projects during the Spring Term:

  • £225 towards the cost of the M&M Pantomime Production (this was free to all pupils)
  • £100 towards the cost of the Life Education Bus
  • £500 annually towards the £1080 transport costs of Swimming for Years 5&6 in the Summer Term (again the school will cover the rest of transport and tuition costs)
  • £500 to meet the cost of Kindles for the Key Stage 2 Lunchtime Reading Club

These are just a few examples of the projects that have been funded due to the hard work of the PTFA.

Final Reminder - Easter Bunny Breakfast – another PTFA event!

On the last day of term – Friday 4th April, we are having an Easter Bunny Breakfast. The choice will be either a bacon bap or a sausage bap with orange juice. Vegetarian sausages will be available. The cost is £3.50 per child to include an Easter Egg from the Easter Bunny who will be visiting for the Breakfast. Parents are welcome to attend with their child and items of food and hot drinks will be available to purchase.

If you would like your child to have a breakfast, please complete the slip that was sent out on the 6th February.

TD Day on Tuesday 22nd April

Woodlands will be closed on Tuesday 22nd April for a Teacher Development Day. Term 5 will start on Wednesday 23rd April

Good-bye and Thank-you Mrs Blackburn

On behalf of all staff and pupils I would like to thank Mrs Blackburn for her 12 years of excellent and dedicated service at Woodlands Primary School. All members of staff will miss her hugely and we wish her well as she begins her well deserved retirement.
