Daytime tours at Sarum Academy- 18th October – a message from Mr Burley (Assistant Principal at Sarum Academy)

Due to the success of our last two Open Evenings, we would like to offer prospective year 6 parents and pupils another chance to tour the Academy during a normal working day. Parents have requested that they are able to see the Academy as it functions on a day to day basis; and whilst we have already offered daytime tours, we would like to give your parents another opportunity to view our rapidly improving Academy before the October deadline.

We have two tour times which start from our main reception:

· Friday 18th October at 8.40 am · Friday 18th October at 9.40 am

All tours take one hour and are led by members of the executive leadership team. Our Principal, Mrs Johnson will be available to answer questions at theses times.

Girls and Boys Football Festivals

I am very proud of the performances of our football teams in the recent Football Festivals. This included a 4-1 win against Pembroke Park and a 5-1 win against Great Wishford.

The Boys’ Team were outstanding in the Salisbury Schools Festival and came 4th out of 22 teams. This is the best result for our Boys’ Team since we became a primary School in 2004.

Boys Football Festival Results:

Round 1:

Woodlands 2 Dinton 0, Woodlands 3 Alderbury 0, Woodlands 1 Downton 4, Woodlands 4 Old Sarum 0

Round 2:

Dear Parents,

Harvest Festival, Collection for the Trussell Trust Foodbank & The BBC Radio 4 Appeal
Our Harvest Festival Assembly for parents will take place on Tuesday 15th October at 9.30am. This year we will again be supporting the Trussell Trust. The Trussell Trust Foodbank provides short term emergency food to local people in crisis. Last year the foodbank distributed over 35 tonnes of food to 4,044 local people in need, of which 1,563 were children. People are given enough food for 3 days.
Please can you assist this work by bringing tinned or dried food for our Harvest Festival. Urgently needed items are breakfast cereals, pasta sauces, tinned veg, rice, pasta, sugar, UHT milk and fruit juice. All food needs to be in date and undamaged. Please can children start bringing in food from this week onwards; this will allow over two weeks to collect as much food as possible. For more details see the foodbank flyer that accompanies this newsletter.

In addition to the information above I have been asked to pass on the following message from the Trussell Trust, “we will soon be the charity featured on the BBC’s Radio 4 Appeal. Rather than a celebrity, Charlotte, who was helped by a foodbank last year, will be the voice of our appeal. Charlotte is an inspirational young woman, who is passionate about foodbanks’ action to stop hidden hunger in communities. She hopes that she can encourage people to act by sharing her story. Please tune in to the appeal, which will be aired on Sunday the 29th of September at 7.55am and 9.26pm; and again on Thursday the 3rd October at 3.27pm.”

Non School Uniform Day – Friday 18th October – £1 per child
We are having a non-school uniform day on Friday 18th October. If every child can bring in £1 then we will be able to raise over £200 for PTA funds.
