Newsletter 27/9/11 Print PDF

Dear Parents,

We have had another busy week at school and the children have continued to settle into their new routines extremely well.

Harvest Festival & Collection for the Trussell Trust Foodbank

Our Harvest Festival Assembly for parents will take place on Tuesday 11th October at 9.15am. This year we will

again be supporting the Trussell Trust. The Trussell Trust Foodbank provides short term emergency food to

local people in crisis. Last year the foodbank distributed over 34.1 tonnes of food to 3909 local people in need, of which 1071 were children. Please can you assist this work by bringing tinned or dried food for our Harvest Festival.

Urgently needed items are breakfast cereals, pasta sauces, tinned veg, rice, pasta, sugar, UHT milk and fruit juice. All food needs to be in date and undamaged (not value). Please can children start bringing in food from Wednesday 28th September; this will allow over a week to collect as much food as possible. For more details see the foodbank flyer that accompanies this newsletter.

No Push Chairs in School

Can I remind all parents that because of Fire Regulations no push chairs are allowed inside the school building. The main corridor is narrow and pushchairs would slow down the evacuation of the building in the event of a fire.

Reading with your child – Monday 3rd October – 2.50-3.15

You are invited in to read with your child on Monday 3rd October. If you can spare half an hour at this time

it would be great to see you in school.

Kingswood Trip - Willow Class

From 14th – 16th September children from Willow Class went to the Kingswood Centre on the Isle of Wight. All

the children had a great time and were so well behaved and grown up. We are all proud of them and they

certainly are a credit to Woodlands. Many thanks to Miss Carpenter, Mrs Hines and Mrs Sanger for giving up

their time to go with the children.

Collecting children on time – at 3.20pm

I would also like to remind parents of the importance of collecting your child by 3.20pm. If you

haven't already informed us of the names of those individuals who will usually be collecting your child/children

after school, please could you let the school office know. This is to ensure the safety and security of your child.

If your contact telephone numbers change/have changed can you let the office know immediately.

Newsletter 8 September 2011 Print PDF

Dear Parents,
It has been a very successful start to the term. The new children coming into Reception and Nursery have settled very quickly and it has been great to begin to get to know them. Please remember we have an open door policy at Woodlands so if there is anything concerning you do come and see me for a chat.  If I am unavailable at any time, then Mrs Garton (Willow Class) will be next in line to answer any queries or concerns you may have. If both myself and Mrs Garton are unavailable at any time, then Mrs Stopps will be next in line to answer any queries or concerns you may have.

Parents Cooking with Mrs Turner
Parents cooking club will be starting again this term. This is a fun session for any parent which runs on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30-3.00. Come along and have a go at making cakes, biscuits, savouries or anything else you fancy. Sessions cost £2.00 to cover the cost of ingredients. Tea / coffee will be provided. If you are interest have a chat with Mrs Turner (Nursery).

Contact Details
If your landline, mobile numbers, home address or emergency contacts change then please inform the school immediately. It is vital that we have up to date information so that we can contact you quickly if your child becomes unwell in school.

School Uniform
It has been great to see so many children coming into school wearing smart new uniforms.
2011 Price List: Sweatshirts £8.50, Cardigans £10, Children’s Fleeces £13.00, T-Shirts £2.00, Book Bags £3.50. Could you please ensure that all uniform and PE Kit is named.

Parking
On Monday I received many complaints from local residents about dangerous parking around the school. This also includes local residents having their drive ways blocked at 8.45am and 3.20pm. Can I ask parents not to park outside the school gates at the top part of Winding Way. The police are seeking to put enforcement measures in place such as bollards that would not allow cars to mount the pavement and refreshed yellow zig-zag lines.

After School Club & Breakfast Club
There are still a few places left in Breakfast Club and After School Club (3.20-5.00). After School Club places need to be pre-booked.
COLLECTIONS
Our Harvest Assembly will be on Tuesday 11th  October.  We will be collecting food (tins, sealed dry items etc / no value items) for the Trussell Trust.
