On behalf of the staff, Governors and children, I would like to warmly welcome you to the Woodlands Primary School website. We hope you will find the website useful but please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information.
I hope you enjoy reading about our caring learning community, situated on the western side of Salisbury. We provide a safe and stimulating environment for all pupils, challenging them to achieve their full potential through equal access to an appropriate, balanced and exciting curriculum and at the same time developing skills for lifelong learning. We are a one form entry school with an on site nursery (Oak Tree Nursery).
To encourage depth of learning we teach our afternoon Foundation subject curriculum (Science, Computing, History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology and Music) in blocks of between 2-4 weeks, this ensures consolidation of previous learning and retention of key subject knowledge and skills.
Our pupils are given many opportunities to learn new skills and knowledge using a variety of exciting initiatives, such as our year 6 residential at Osmington Bay near Weymouth, our Strings Orchestra “Stringissimo”, whole class violin tuition, French classes and our links with the Salisbury Playhouse. In 2019 our Year 6 pupils performed their own version of a dramatic play about the creation of the Maya civilization at the Salberg Theatre. We have been awarded the Artsmark Silver, Primary Science Quality Silver Mark and Active Mark Bronze Status. These awards reflect the broad opportunities our learners have available to them.
