Keeping Children Safe: Child Protection Statement
Child Protection Statement
The health, safety and well-being of all our children are of paramount importance to all of the adults who work in our school. Our children have the right to protection, regardless of age, gender, race, culture or disability. They have a right to be safe in our school.
At Woodlands we respect our children, and we respect their individuality. The atmosphere within our school is one that provides a physically and emotionally safe and secure environment. We provide opportunities which enable our children to take and make well-considered decisions for themselves.
Our teaching of Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education and Citizenship (PSHEE & C) helps to develop relevant knowledge, meaningful skills and appropriate attitudes in our children, and helps them learn how to recognise different risks in different situations, and how to behave in response to them.
Our intent is to equip them with what they need to keep themselves and others safe now and in the future.
Our Personal Safety provision always strives to meet and exceed the needs of our pupils, and content can be prioritised and tailored to a cohort or even an individual’s need.
Areas that are covered (age and stage appropriately) include:
- Accident prevention
- Communication skills
- Drug education
- Healthy relationships
- Online safety
- Rights and responsibilities
- Problem solving, risk management and decision making
- Emotional health and resilience
- Road Safety
- Weapons and gangs
- Accessing help and support

Gold Award
Woodlands was one of the very first schools as part of the Wiltshire’s Healthy Schools programme to be awarded the Gold Certificate, and our case study has been used as an exemplar. We provided evidence of a whole school approach to health and wellbeing, which contained a range of actions and school provision to promote personal safety.
